Immunotherapy company Advaxis Inc (OTCBB: ADXS | PowerRating) reported on Tuesday that the company has entered into a veterinary clinical research study contract for treating osteosarcoma in companion dogs using its Listeria immunotherapeutic platform.
This agreement was executed with the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and the study will be led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nicola Mason.
Planned to start later this year, the study augments Advaxis’ veterinary programme which also includes a cooperative research and development agreement with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to study Listeria constructs in cattle.
According to Advaxis the proposed study of canine osteosarcoma

will use HER-2/neu constructs to treat bone cancer. HER-2/neu is a well known tumor antigen in a variety of human and animal cancers.
